The compromise: a 75 degree pattern misses your front rows

The tight pattern that makes the K12.2 good at throwing to the back row is exactly what makes it bad at covering the front. Two boxes on stands at the edges of a platform, aimed at the back of the room as they should be, produce a wedge of seats in the first three or four rows and along the outer aisles that sit outside both cones. Those people hear the platform acoustically and the loudspeakers faintly, which reads to them as the sound system being broken.
